Requirements and Validators: Based on experiences with the evolution of VO standards, this talk will suggest criteria when a standard ought to introduce MUST-type requirements on implementations and when it perhaps should not. I hope to show that there is a strong link between whether some constraint should be posed by a standard and whether that constraint can (and indeed must) be validated.
Mark Taylor
Validation for VO standard authors: Every effort should be made to ensure that VO standards documents are correct and consistent with both themselves and with other VO standards. Failure to do that leads to confusion for implementers and users, and sometimes to the need for Errata at a later stage. Using validation tools during the document preparation process can help with this aim. This is a review of what items of content in VO standards documents can and should be validated during the document preparation process, and of tools and best practice that can be used.
Raffaele D'Abrusco
The Virtual Observatory at the Chandra X-Ray Center: past, current and future: The Chandra X-ray Center (CXC) has a long history of direct involvement with the implementation and development of VO standards and protocols. In this talk, I will describe the array of IVOA interfaces currently maintained by the CXC and provide usage statistics. I will also mention future plans and some of the lessons learned along the way.
Sébastien Derriere, Gilles Landais
VOUnits in VizieR: The description of individual table columns in the VizieR catalogue service relies on a list of measurement Units antedating the IVOA VOUnits standard. VizieR units are mostly compatible with VOUnits, but a detailed analysis by Mark Taylor during the last interop outlined possible improvements. We will present progress that has been made since then, in order to make VOTable 1.4 output of VizieR compliant with VOUnits, and questions that this has raised to describe for example sexagesimal coordinates or timestamps.
Renaud Savalle
PADC Web Validators: One of the activities of Paris Astronomical Data Center (PADC) is to develop and maintain web validators for several IVOA standards. In this talk I will describe recent validator enhancements as well as updated rules for the latest SCS, SIAP and SSAP errata. A new web interface for TAP and HiPS validators will be presented. I will also demo tools designed for providers who need to check and improve the compliance of their registered services by browsing our daily validation results or accessing them programmatically with a web API.
Renaud Savalle
PADC Weather Report: Paris Astronomical Data Center (PADC) has been monitoring the overall health of the IVOA ecosystem by daily running validators on registered services published with the SCS, SIAP, SSAP, TAP and HiPS standards. In this talk I will show the latest results of our validation system and discuss the most frequent compliance issues found for each standard.

Markus Demleitner: "Requirements and Validators"
Based on experiences with the evolution of VO standards, this talk will suggest criteria when a standard ought to introduce MUST-type requirements on implementations and when it perhaps should not. I hope to show that there is a strong link between whether some constraint should be posed by a standard and whether that constraint can (and indeed must) be validated.
Mark Taylor: "Validation for VO standard authors"
Every effort should be made to ensure that VO standards documents are correct and consistent with both themselves and with other VO standards.
Raffele D'Abrusco: "The Virtual Observatory at the Chandra X-Ray Center: past, current and future"
The Chandra X-ray Center (CXC) has a long history of direct involvement with the implementation and development of VO standards and protocols. In this talk, I will describe the array of IVOA interfaces currently maintained by the CXC and provide usage statistics. I will also mention future plans and some of the lessons learned along the way.
Sébastien Derriere, Gilles Landais: VOUnits in VizieR
The description of individual table columns in the VizieR catalogue service relies on a list of measurement Units antedating the IVOA VOUnits standard.
Renaud Savalle: "PADC Web Validators"
One of the activities of Paris Astronomical Data Center (PADC) is to develop and maintain web validators for several IVOA standards.
Renaud Savalle: "PADC Weather Report"
Paris Astronomical Data Center (PADC) has been monitoring the overall health of the IVOA ecosystem by daily running validators on registered services published with the SCS, SIAP, SSAP, TAP and HiPS standards. In this talk I will show the latest results of our validation system and discuss the most frequent compliance issues found for each standard.
