Improving the data access services in the VO ecosystem (Euro-VO Weather Report)

Efforts to improve data access services (SCS, SSA, SIA, TAP) across the VO ecosystem are continuing to gain momentum. I have contacted the owners of all 1000 non-compliant services, providing guidance on the specific issues plaguing each service. As a result, the VO community is improving its services at an unprecedented rate. I will present the status of this effort and highlight the latest features of the Euro-VO Registry designed to help data providers achieve full compliance with IVOA standards.

Embedded Metadata Validators in CADC TAP Services

To help table creators provide and curate VO table metadata, we have embedded validation tools into the CADC TAP libraries that back our traditional read-only TAP services, and in our user-managed TAP services (YouCat /TAP-next). In YouCat, users who upload table data receive errors and warnings related to UCDs, VOUnits, and schema, table, and column names. Additionally, the /tables endpoint has been extended to support on-demand metadata validation, providing the same errors and warnings for existing content. We will describe process on how this works and the remaining challenges we face.
