Vocabulary: http://www.ivoa.net/rdf/datalink/core Author: msdemlei@ari.uni-heidelberg.de New Term: isMetadataFor (child of auxiliary) Label: Metadata Description: additional documentation for this dataset (e.g., observatory logs, provenance information) Rationale: This would annotate material such as observation logs, scanned envelopes of plates, or possibly logs of pipeline runs. The term is a bit different from other datalink terms, but it is taken from the DataCite relationships, and I feel re-using these terms whenever possible makes it easier to re-use datalink annotations later. New Term: isVariantFormOf (child of this) Label: Variant form Description: the data in a different form, e.g., a different packaging Rationale: This would annotate different "renderings" of the same data, e.g., a VOTable version of a spectrum that is given as FITS in #this. Again, the term comes from DataCite. New Term: IsPreviousVersionOf (child of this) Label: Previous version Description: this dataset in a previous edition, e.g., processed with an older pipeline, as part of an older data release. Rationale: This is for projects with data releases. IsPreviousVersionOf allows marking up links to (typically datalink documents for) later version(s) of this data set. New Term: IsNewVersionOf (child of this) Label: New version Description: this dataset in a newer edition, e.g., processed with a newer pipeline, as part of a newer data release. Rationale: see IsPreviousVersionOf. One particularly attractive aspect of IsNewVersionOf is that old, presumably somehow flawed, versions of data sets can still be discovered using VO tools but will not immediately show up in standard, all-VO discovery queries. Changed term: proc Label: Processing Description: reference to a server-side processing service Rationale: The old description ("server-side data processing result") just doesn't quite match what this is.
