Here we study and discuss how and why the Unified Content Descriptors vocabulary can be used and extended for catering Solar Data in various projects.

Annotation with existing UCD

Choose a UCD for tagging metadata in different projects.

here the process is to compare the usage of a matadata keyword in solar community and check wheter a term already in the UCD list can be used

3 cases forseen:

• one existing term can be used straight ahead
• one existing term can be used , but may need some change in the Ucd definition : restriction , extension , etc
• no term exists matching the need : create a new term or a group of new terms by writing a VEP-UCD document

We are proposing to re-use the VEP documents proposed in Vocab2.0, and use them in contexts where a group of terms is proposed together and discussed .

Several terms that correspond to related properties can be discussed in the same VEP_UCD to keep their evolution consistent.

VEPsForUCD is the page collecting all VEP_UCD files. it records the currents VEP for UCD under discussion.
