About Me
I am currently the LSST Science Platform Scientist, responsible for the overall scientific design and requirements management of the user interface to be provided to scientists by LSST to provide access to its data.
I work at Caltech's IPAC, alongside the scientists responsible for the IPAC-hosted data archives: IRSA, NED, and the Exoplanet Archive.
In 2018, I began a term on the IVOA Committee on Science Priorities. My major IVOA-ish interests are in data annotation and metadata provision, data discoverability, and in the development of robust and semantically powerful client-side language APIs for the IVOA protocols.
I've been part of the LSST project since 2008, working on the architecture of the LSST Data Management system and its interfaces. Before that, I was Computing Coordinator for the
BaBar high energy physics experiment at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory - a petabyte-scale data and computing challenge. Before joining IPAC, I've worked at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, Caltech, and SLAC. I received a Ph.D. in experimental high energy physics from Caltech in 1992.
