Updated Wiki system
Text to go in the 2008 Assessment and Roadmap document
The current IVOA wiki is running quite an old version:
"This site is running TWiki version 04 Sep 2004 $Rev: 1742 $, Plugin API version 1.025".
It would be useful to upgrade the wiki version to some newer version which also offer more user-friendly editing facilities such as WYSIWYG and other more elaborated text formatting options.

The 'search' mode has been significantly improved in the last versions (in particular the 4.2 that accepts SQL-like requests). I'm thus in favour of an update.
If there are changes being made here, would it be possible to do some URL-rewriting in the server configuration, and lose the
cgi-bin/twiki/bin/view
stuff in the URLs? This looks unprofessional, makes the URIs longer than they need to be, and would make it hard to migrate the wiki software to a different engine should that ever be necessary or desirable. Having a server config which remapped, for example
/wiki/*
to
/cgi-bin/twiki/bin/view/*
would do it, or using a virtual server and using the domain
wiki.ivoa.net
-- thus
http://wiki.ivoa.net/IVOA/IvoaTCG
(I emphasise that this could be done entirely in the Apache configration, and wouldn't need changes to the wiki software installation). --
