Highlights

  • Work on Prototypes & Documents progressing
  • Discussed additional improvements (non-semantic) to the UWS spec. We will raise this topic with the greater IVOA community, and with client implementors specificially.
  • Discussed engaging with clients and made a plan to invite them to next mtg
  • Next mtg: Oct 16 @20 UTC
  • Actions:
    • Janet draft invite to Clients via Apps group after discussing at TCG
    • Dave prepare ~2 slide for clients mtg with P3T prioriites as a reminder
    • JE with P3T help: Prepare mtg page for Client mtg early with links to docs and perhaps a prototype(?!)
    • ALL: Review the draft docs so we present them to the Clients after internal review
    • ALL: Look at each others prototypes to know we're on the right track here too before Client mtg

Meeting Agenda/Notes

  • Status Updates
    • Josh (UWS, TAP 1.1)
      • Working prototype; spec we have is very good
      • Reviewed Pat's TAP implementation - TAP splits things apary in nice components while UWS is monlithic
      • Russ wonders whether we should rethink UWS and make some changes (non-semantic)
        • Feedback to that suggestion by folks was that making changes opens a debate in TCG and will complicate the goals of P3T
      • Russ noted that his suggestions are not at the semantic level but at the encoding level ... there was more conversation ... good topic to raise with clients
    • Pat (TAP)
      • Making progress
      • OpenAPI: thinking about how to present a prototype
    • Dave (Execution Broker)
      • Working the execution broker functional prototype & an OpenAPI spec with lessons learned;
      • There is a separation between DM and Serialization
      • OpenAPI not tied to Jason (also use Yaml, XML) - May not be future language -proofed
  • IVOA Document
  • Engaging with existing clients
    • We talked about 2 types of IVOA participants, both of which have different needs:
      • 1) Those working on existing tools on existing standards
      • 2) Those new to the IVOA with from-scratch IVOA standards to implement
    • TAPLint is an important and significant validator
    • We will send an email to Apps and invite them to the next meeting; find out who is willing to get invovled
    • Show clients the doc that describes the docs; sample implementation as an example, Dave will present a few slides to remind of P3T work; JE will draft an email to Apps group; meeting will be Oct 16 @20 UTC unless we get too much push back and need a poll; JE will describe forward plans of client meeting at TCG mtg on Friday (Sep 27)
  • Looking ahead to the Nov Interop
    • Topic for next mtg
  • Next meetings:
    • Oct 16 @20:00 UTC - with clients
    • ??? - one more in preparation for Nov Interop.
