Lifecycle of making a document change in the IVOA repository (VOTable example)

Wednesday May 6, 20:30-21:30 UTC Other times zones

Logistics

Overview

Working session to learn (following existing documentation, and updating where necessary) the lifecycle of making a change to the VOTable document, actually making the change in the repository. It seems important that we all know the recommended path through the tools and processes.

A Python based TAP Server at Caltech/IPAC-NExScI

Thursday May 7, 20:30-21:30 UTC Other times zones

Presentation on new Python TAP server development at Caltech/IPAC-NExScI, followed by questions and possible discussion on how best to share this code/development or projects like it.

PyVO and the end User

Thursday May 7, 22:00-23:00 UTC Other times zones

Logistics

Overview

The NASA Astronomical Virtual Observatories (NAVO) have been developing Jupyter notebooks to demonstrate how the end user can use PyVO directly to discover and retrieve data from the NASA archives. This of course is generic to all archives using VO protocols, so we have plans to contribute them as tutorials for distribution in PyVO. Our purposes have so far been NASA-specific, so we propose to present what we have done to the IVOA and open a discussion of how to improve our materials for a broader audience.

Feedback on SIA2/SODA including PyVO developments

Friday May 8, 15:00-16:00 UTC Other times zones

See details on the DAL session page

Maintenance of externally-facing IVOA resources

Friday May 8, 22:00-23:00 UTC Other times zones

Logistics

Overview

This session was triggered by the realization that some content was stale on the page VO Applications for Astronomers. Raffaele will present a brief review of that content, and we will discuss how best to maintain it in the future. That discussion could apply to any of the content referenced from Information for Astronomers.
